(Guest) Constable Andy Crawford (Guest) Constable Adam McAlastair (Guest) APOLOGIES:- Gordon King LIST OF ATTENDEES:- Completed by all in attendance ACCEPTANCE OF MINUTE OF MEETING HELD ON WEDNESDAY 11TH AUGUST, 2010 PROPOSED By Jan SECONDED By John GUEST SPEAKER/S Constable Andy Crawford and Constable Adam McAlastair from Garelochhead were in attendance and advised that there had been 63 incidents of crime since Rhu and Shandon Community Council held their last meeting on the 11th August, 2010. It was pointed out that this figure included Helensburgh Area. It was advised that anyone being stopped for speeding will be offered a speeding ticket. If this is refused then the matter will be reported straight to the Fiscal. Constable Crawford advised that there had not been many youth disorder calls. The seats that were removed from Rhu and Shandon Primary School had been recovered although one bench had been burnt on the beach. Some housebreakings had occurred in Shandon and Rhu between August and September, 2010. The Police have someone in mind and are awaiting forensic results before proceeding with charges. Anyone requiring advice on security matters in and around the home should contact Andy Crawford on 01436810222. Constable Crawford advised that anyone with valuable/sentimental jewellery should where possible have photographs taken of the pieces. A Seniors’ Safety Day will be held in Garelochhead on the 19th October, 2010 between 1000 a.m. and 1.p.m. A dozen agencies will be there to provide practical advice on safety in the home etc. Posters will be made available to Jan at Garedale, Manse Brae, Rhu. James Leatherby R.N. Advised that a new Captain is now in place at the Base and has briefed Argyll and Bute Council on the way ahead with the new submarines. An offer has been made to Rhu and Shandon Community Council through James for a briefing on the new subs and defence review. It was agreed to take up this offer of briefing this will take place at the next Community Council Meeting on the 8th December, 2010. James commended John for his contribution to the Helensburgh Advertiser publicising the Community Council. MATTERS ARISING:- Archie proposed that the Community Council Meetings be reverted back to every month as opposed to Bi-Monthly Meetings . After much discussion this proposal was rejected and it was agreed that we would review this matter in 6 months time. JOHN:- Advised that he had actioned items from the previous matters arising namely publicising the Community Council on the Website and providing an article to the Helensburgh Advertiser. PUBLIC QUESTION TIME:- No Members of the Public were in attendance at the meeting Pat expressed her disappointment regarding the lack of interest in the recent By Election to fill the vacancies on the Rhu and Shandon Community Council. All agreed. TREASURER’S REPORT:- Colin reported receipt of the sum of £37.73 from Easy Fund Raising. The balance of funds now stood at £590.00. CORRESPONDENCE:- Jan advised that no correspondence apart from what had already been circulated by e-mail. Jack and Pat advised that they had not received any communication from Jan including the Agenda for the meeting. Jan to check that correct e-mail address was used for Jack. MEMBER’S REPORTS:- MARTIN:- Nothing COLIN:- Nothing JAN:- Nothing PROVOST PETRIE: Nothing ARCHIE:- Confirmed with Colin details of the Remembrance Service on the 14th November, 2010. Jan volunteered to represent the Community Council along with Archie. PAT:- Advised that she has raised the matter of dog fouling and access of dogs into Playparks with Jackie Baillie, MSP.Playpark Appeal going very well. £5-6,000 short of the final target of £13,300. JACK:- Referred to Helensburgh Community Council suggestions for a suitable site for a second Petrol Station in Helensburgh. Jack advised that a preferred site was Rhu Marina. Discussion took place regarding the various implications on using this site namely, traffic, access etc. A.O.B.
